- Show the sequence of slides.
- First on their own, then in pairs and then as a whole class, ask the class to recall what they saw. Recreate the sequence as they describe it before replaying it so they can check.
Then invite the class to work in 2′s or 4′s to extend the idea to three circles:
As the groups work, look for different inferences before sharing some of the ideas with the whole group. I use coloured paper circles that I pin up to display the different ideas.
Outcomes:
- Valuing different ways of seeing
- Using mathematical language
- Discussing the reliability of extrapolation.
